CGSA Board Meeting held on Monday, 03/06/06

• All Star
  • Committee volunteers needed - all volunteers will need to be available the entire weekend of all stars which is June 10-11
  • During all star vote team managers will make their recommendations along with the all star committee recommendations but ultimately, the CGSA E Board has the final word
  • Manager selection for the all star teams does not necessarily go to the team with the winning record.  The all star committee will make recommendations to the committee on how to go about selecting each manager but ultimately, the E Board has the last say.
    • noted by an E Board member that winning the season, although it may show the ability to succeed and teach players, is not the only variable in selecting an all star manager.  Other factors are as follows:
      • seniority in the league
      • experience with tournament play
      • manager's relationship with his/her parents/team is important and we take into consideration parental/player complaints when selecting an all star manager
  • All star tournaments that the Cerritos All Star teams will participate in will be selected and finalized soon.  The tournament selections will be communicated as soon as they are confirmed.
  • The board is in the process of finalizing all vendors who will participate in the all star weekend
     
• Cerritos 50th Anniversary - Parade
  • Anniversary celebration to take place at the Cerritos Sports Complex 4/28 - 4/30.
  • 50 people from the league to be selected by the board to participate in the parade. 
  • Parade to take place on 4/29 at approximately 12:00 pm.  Parade route start at South St., down Bloomfield and ends at the Sports Complex.
  • CGSA to have a fundraiser booth at the event as well as a booth for publicity purposes.
     
• Youth Volunteers
  • CGSA By Laws will not be amended
  • Any volunteer outside of the league whether male or female must complete an adult volunteer form and submit it for approval by the E Board.
  • By Laws verbiage regarding volunteers is as follows:

    A.     The adult team personnel shall consist of a Manager, Coach, and Team Mom/Chaperone.

    B.      All Managers, Coaches and Team Mom/Chaperone must be adults, over twenty one (21) years of age and approved by the Board. A female coach or Manager, may be eighteen years of age provided the Team Mom/Chaperone is twenty one (21) years of age or older. All males must be twenty one (21) years of age or older. 

    C.      A female adult, at least twenty one (21) years of age or older, must be in attendance at all team functions including practices.

    D.      Adults having been convicted of any sex crimes or having been committed as a mentally disordered sex offender are ineligible to hold any position in the Cerritos Girls Softball Association.

    E.       Adults having been convicted of any drug crime within the previous ten years from the date of application are ineligible to hold any position in the Cerritos Girls Softball Association.

    F.       Adults having been convicted of any crime of violence within the previous ten years from the date of application are ineligible to hold any position in the Cerritos Girls Softball Association.

    G.      Adult applicants must be fingerprinted employing the Live Scan method and submitted to the California Department of Justice (CDOJ). Report of results provided by CDOJ shall be sent to the designated officer of the Cerritos Girls Softball Association.
